What is it like to spend a day in the life of, who we consider, the Evidence guru, Dr. Todd Feinman? For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Todd is the CMO & Founder of The Qure and Doctor Evidence. Both companies are dedicated to getting real evidence back into our clinics, hospitals, homes, media, and elsewhere. Dr. Todd is also one of the main characters in our SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE video series.
Dr. Todd’s mind is wired differently than the normal persons’ as you’ll see in the video below. You can learn more about this in our first Podcast when he discusses his experiences and subsequent motivations behind becoming the General behind the SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE battle.
What does Dr. Todd see or hear that is different from the rest of us? What thoughts go through his brain that do not normally go through the rest of us?
When it comes to anything related to science, health care, or public health, most of us take what’s presented to us without much push back. Many are never skeptical and unconditionally accept the opinions of trusted experts and rarely question claims we read in “respectable” publications such as magazines, books, or even the Internet. These same folks would never question their own doctors’ recommendations.
There are some people that sometimes or frequently question experts and ask follow up questions or ask for second and third opinions. These folks may even ask their doctor “does this drug really work?”
But most, if not all, of us do not do the following:
- Ask the right question
- Demand the right evidence
- Use that evidence to make the best decision possible
Dr. Todd belongs to a small group of humans that question every claim that could impact our health and well being. Everyday Dr. Todd frames questions around all the claims that come out of our TV sets, computers, magazines, and books. He is obsessed with finding out the truth for every claim that we hear and see everyday. I can’t even get Dr. Todd to give me an opinion. He will just say, “Lets look at the evidence together.”
Dr. Todd’s motto: “In God we trust, all others must bring data.”
This video is an attempt to get inside Dr. Todd’s head while he walks around his house and picks up his kids from school.
SMTE Challenge #2- For one hour, be mindful of every activity you are doing:- driving, eating, working out, etc. With each activity think about WHY you are doing that activity.. Ex- I am eating an organic salad for lunch. Why? Because eating organic vegetables decreases the chances that I will get diseases like cancer?. From there, try to remember the source of that information/claim.. Did you read it in a book? Hear it on TV? If your source did not include EVIDENCE, then how can you know if your decision was good or bad or useless? Ask more questions! Read more evidence!
We used the great film Being John Malkovich as a catalyst for this video. Come with us as we get inside the mind of Dr. Todd and see the world from a Show Me The Evidence point of view.
